Primacy of LED lights

Primacy of LED lights

For most people, probably the biggest single factor against low energy LED lighting as a replacement for the soon-to-be-phased-out regular incandescent light bulb is the cost differential. There is no doubt that LED bulbs equivalent (eg 6W LED spotlight as a direct replacement for 35W GU10 halogen lamp) is significantly more expensive than either the original or a CFL alternative.

But there are three important points to keep in mind that a higher price for low energy LEDs compared to incandescent and CFL energy
saving.

1. The price difference reflects the fact that the use of LEDs for general lighting purposes in the country is still fairly new, but the rate of increase of production and the consumer will want to push the price down dramatically once both come fully operational for several months.

2. And partly for the above observations is that the cost of LEDs drops by a factor of twenty for each decade. This characteristic is reliably predicted by Haitz Law (very similar to Moore's Law for computer chips and similar reasons, especially because of the LED, as computer chips, pure electronic devices). Haitz also states that LED performance (amount of light per watt of electricity) increases tenfold over the same decade.

3. And perhaps the most interesting thing is that as far as the cost of domestic lighting is concerned, the price of light is almost completely irrelevant. It is a proven fact yet easy extraordinary that even if regular light bulbs were totally free and LED lights cost, let's say something outrageous like $ 80 each, they will be much more economical to buy a low energy LED lamps.

The reason for this is simple: the cost of electrical lighting is the cost of energy, namely electricity. It does not matter one bit what the actual cost of the light, but rather how much it costs to run them that really matters. Also, since LEDs last for tens of thousands of hours (in practice, decades of use) you only need to pay a one-time purchase, unlike ordinary bulbs which last only upto two thousand hours or more than one year.

The second biggest complaint about the low-energy LED lighting light levels and quality, or in technical terms, and the lighting is bright colors.

Concerns about the brightness of the understanding of the history of most LED lighting applications such as LED Christmas lights and pocket torches are clearly not capable of providing anything close to useable domestic lighting. However, you can now buy one of the latest series of sharp Zenigata LED light is rated at 80 lumens per watt (a measure of brightness).

LED lights, similar to the CFL, tend to be somewhat cool blue color, whereas we are more accustomed to the warm colors of white and yellow. This is something that is now generally directed to the use of colored phosphors (these do not reduce brightness, but this in turn countered by increasing lumens per watt LED performance).

A third factor that may be considered burdensome LED low power lighting is that the light emitted by the LED really focused and not spread out in all directions in a way as incandescent and fluorescent lamps. It's actually quite acceptable in a spotlight, flood light or a light read, but not very effective for general illumination mimics as table lamp would provide. But then again, there are LED powered general lighting has become more widely available that do a reasonable job here.

LED lights are widely available for all the common basic equipment such as electric-powered GU10 and 12v MR16 spotlights and the low-energy standard base GU24 as well as regular bayonet and Edison screw fittings. LED lights also do not suffer from the inherent problems associated with CFLs such as: noticeably poor start-up, reduced life expectancy times caused by frequent switching on and off, and the lights are not a big draw.

But perhaps one of the most well-known advantages of low-energy LED lights are more energy efficient CFL bulbs is that they do not contain toxic mercury vapor or other unpleasant materials, and thus does not pose a serious health risk or require tiresome and expensive disposal procedures to protect environment.

In short, the main perceived disadvantages of domestic energy saving LED lighting are cost and application (brightness and color). But as we have seen, the cost of the bulb is actually a red herring - the true cost of electrical lighting is the price of electricity and on this score ultra low energy LED lighting puts everything else, including energy-efficient CFL, it is actually in the shade (pun intended).

In terms of light and quality of light, the light on the balance of providing much greater flexibility brighter, cleaner, brighter than CFL bulbs and offer a choice of color and brightness.

Finally, the biggest advantage of the low-energy LED lights in the country more than its competitors, but remember that the lighting in the LED lighting industry in the country as the future and could barely conceal contempt for CFLs. Lighting giants such as Philips are on record saying that they will not invest a single dollar further into CFLs and that their entire research and development efforts are now directed at domestic LED lighting technology.
