Wacom Intuos 4 Mouse Double-Clicking Issue

I rely on my Wacom tablet for everything that I do. When I'm not using the stylus, I use the mouse as I would any other mouse. The benefits of the mouse is that it doesn't require batteries and functions perfectly for everything I don't want/need a stylus for.

Except when it mistakenly registers a single-click as a double-click.

I've had this issue off and on for a while now but never as bad as it has been recently. It got to the point where I couldn't take it anymore. Randomly/Accidentally opening files that I didn't intend on opening is just the tip of the iceberg.

I was looking to have it serviced or replaced when I stumbled upon this: http://www.beeldbuijs.nl/solutions/hardware/scrollwheel_adjustment.htm

While it's not the same mouse, it gave me enough information to figure out how to open it up. Just like my Logitech Driving Force Pro Wheel with which I had a "sticky" brake pedal, I suspected the contacts were dirty. Sure enough I opened up the mouse and it was... dirty.

Which is somewhat surprising considering it required removing the bottom felt matte to get to the 4 screws so I was initially unsure how dust/dirt would even get in in the first place. Examining the outer shell of the mouse you find that dust easily gets in the from the sides or the wheel.

Speaking of the wheel, mine is so rubbed out that it's no longer tacky and requires more "grip" to easily scroll the wheel.

Anyway cleaning it up with a canned dust-blower (compressed air) seemed to do the trick and I'm testing it out now... so far so good.
